NEW AND INTERESTING BEETLE (INSECTA, COLEOPTERA)
RECORDS FROM PORTUGAL (4TH NOTE)
José Manuel Grosso-Silva

Entomoscelis adonidis (Pallas, 1771)
MATERIAL EXAMINED: Bragança: Nogueira (29TPG82), 18-05-
2000 (4, Ernestino Maravalhas leg.). Torre de Moncorvo: Olgas
stream banks (Urros) (29TPF6852), 10-05-2005 (3). Vila Nova de
Foz Côa: Between Almendra and Castelo Melhor (29TPF64), 22-
04-2000 (3); Chãs (29TPF53), 30-03-1997 (3); Quinta da Ervamoira
(29TPF54), 16-04-2000 (1).
COMMENTS: The only Portuguese records found in the literature
are an old one from Bragança (Oliveira, 1893) and a
very recent one from Serra da Estrela (Vale do Rossim)
(Grosso-Silva, 2005). The new data connects these two
areas and enhances the seemingly north-eastern distribution
of the species in the country. Furthermore, the species appears
to be common in the Alto Douro region, where it was
seen in groups, particularly on the banks of Olgas stream
(more than 30 individuals observed).
